Boots Riley Unveils Wild, Satirical New Film I Love Boosters at CinemaCon

At this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas, rapper/filmmaker Boots Riley joined actors LaKeith Stanfield and Adam Scott to preview his latest film, I Love Boosters. The presentation, backed by NEON, drew attention for its high-energy debut and an early look at one of the most unconventional films on the horizon.

The film features an ensemble cast including Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore. I Love Boosters centers on a group of professional shoplifters targeting a ruthless fashion mogul, blending heist elements with Riley’s signature satirical voice and social commentary.

Early footage suggests a chaotic, genre-bending experience that leans heavily into absurd humor and visual experimentation. Critics note the film’s unconventional structure, prioritizing surreal set pieces and rapid-fire gags over a traditional narrative arc. LaKeith Stanfield delivers a standout comedic performance as a seductive figure with bizarre, exaggerated abilities, while Keke Palmer balances the film’s eccentricity with sharp, deadpan humor.

Following the cult success of earlier works such as Sorry to Bother You and the series I'm a Virgo, Riley’s latest project is already being described as his boldest and most visually intense work yet. With its mix of satire, social critique, and offbeat storytelling, I Love Boosters appears poised to spark conversation and further establish Riley as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary filmmaking.
