Annahstasia - Tether [Album]

Already garnering plenty of rave reviews and critical acclaim from all corners of the globe, LA-based songwriter Annahstasia finally debuts her 11-tracks jazz-folk-soul opus Tether after numerous false starts.

This week, we rewind to 2006 and revisit the warm, breezy charm of Corinne Bailey Rae’s breakout hit, "Put Your Records On." A jazz-infused pop-soul ballad with touches of R&B, the song instantly became Rae’s signature track. Released as the second single from her self-titled debut album in Europe—and her lead single in North America—the song paid subtle homage to Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” in its opening verse and invited listeners to embrace carefree self-love. “Put Your Records On” soared to number two on the UK Singles Chart, topped the UK R&B Chart, and earned Grammy nominations for Record and Song of the Year in 2007. It even made a cinematic mark, appearing in Venus and later covered by The Chipettes in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. A viral TikTok cover by Ritt Momney in 2020 introduced the tune to a new generation, proving its timeless, feel-good magic.

Los Angeles artist India Shawn returns with “Kill Switch,” her first solo release since Before We Go (Deeper), delivering a powerful vocal performance over lush, psychedelic soul. Released on VANTA Music, the single explores reclaiming control in love and life. Co-written and produced with D’Mile, Livvy Bennett, and Michael Benjamin Hunter, the track reflects the emotional risks of blurring friendship and romance. Shawn describes it as a shift away from unreciprocated love. The Anne-Sophie Bine-directed video, co-starring Luke James, follows Shawn through a dreamlike maze of past lives, capturing the song’s themes of love, loss, and self-discovery in vivid, surreal visuals.

Chris Brown, fresh off BET Awards wins and launching his Breezy Bowl XX tour, released a new single, “Holy Blindfold.” The track follows his Grammy-winning 11:11 (Deluxe) album and recent assault charges. Produced by The Monsters & Strangerz, Jon Bellion, and Tenroc, the song features Brown seeking emotional refuge in love.

Davido’s hit single “With You” featuring Omah Lay has gone viral on social media, especially TikTok, and is already being hailed as an early Song of the Year contender. On June 16, Davido released a vibrant music video directed by Dammy Twitch, capturing the track’s energy with colorful visuals and viral dance moves. It’s the latest visual from his fifth album, 5ive.
