Rapper Gucci Mane Allegedly Targeted in Kidnapping and Robbery Plot by Pooh Shiesty

Federal prosecutors allege that Gucci Mane was the victim of a kidnapping and robbery plot orchestrated by one of his own artists, Pooh Shiesty, earlier this year. According to a criminal complaint unsealed Thursday, Shiesty—whose legal name is Lontrell Williams Jr.—arranged a meeting in Dallas on Jan. 10 under the pretense of discussing his contract with Mane’s 1017 label. Authorities say tensions escalated during the meeting at a studio inside an office building after Williams, who was on home confinement, realized he was not authorized to be there.
Prosecutors claim that during a private conversation in a recording room, Williams became agitated over his contract and allegedly produced what appeared to be an AK-style firearm. He is accused of pointing the weapon at Mane and demanding his release from the label, forcing Mane to sign paperwork while others, including Williams’ father, were present. The situation reportedly intensified after the group exited the room, with additional individuals allegedly entering the studio armed and demanding valuables from others inside.
According to the Department of Justice, victims were robbed of items including jewelry, cash, and designer goods, and one individual was allegedly choked to the point of nearly losing consciousness. The group is also accused of barricading victims, who feared for their lives during the ordeal. Williams, his father, and several others were arrested in Dallas and Memphis and now face federal charges related to kidnapping and armed robbery.
