Toni Braxton's He Wasn't Man Enough: Trailer | Toni Braxton, Essence Atkins & Yvette Nicole Brow

Toni Braxton is turning her 2000 Billboard #1 hit “He Wasn’t Man Enough” into a made-for-TV moment, joining forces with Lifetime for a new original film premiering Saturday, November 22. The GRAMMY-winning superstar not only stars as the lead but also serves as executive producer as part of her multi-film deal with the network. In He Wasn’t Man Enough, Braxton plays Mel Montgomery, a best-selling author whose life is thrown into chaos when she discovers her longtime boyfriend has been cheating, and worse, he’s now engaged to her estranged college friend.
If that wasn’t messy enough, Mel unexpectedly teams up with that same friend, Monica (Essence Atkins), and her loyal best friend and lawyer, Candy (Yvette Nicole Brown). The trio puts aside their differences and crafts a clever plan to teach Mel’s deceitful ex, Richard, a long-overdue lesson. What begins as a story of betrayal quickly transforms into one of sisterhood and solidarity, as the women bond over shared heartbreak and newfound empowerment, both inside and outside their group chat.
The film marks the latest project in Braxton’s growing creative partnership with Lifetime, following the upcoming Breathe Again, inspired by her 1993 classic. That film, set for 2026, will reunite Braxton with Atkins and A Different World alum Cree Summer in a story centered on three women navigating love and fame on a national dating show. With He Wasn’t Man Enough, Braxton continues to prove that her timeless hits can resonate just as powerfully on screen as they did on the charts.
