Ray J Hospitalized After Medical Emergency During Livestream

R&B singer and reality television personality Ray J was rushed to the hospital Thursday after experiencing a medical emergency during a livestream, TMZ reported. The incident occurred while he was broadcasting from Fab Factory, prompting someone to call the fire department and request an ambulance. His mother was also present on the livestream. Video footage showed paramedics treating Ray J as he lay shirtless with medical equipment attached to his chest.

According to sources cited by TMZ, Ray J was transported by ambulance for what appeared to be heart-related issues. The emergency was described as strictly medical, with no indication of suspicious circumstances. The incident comes as the singer has been pushing himself through “Rayhab,” a 180-day streaming subathon that has reportedly involved staying awake for extended periods. His latest health scare has raised further concerns given his history of heart-related complications.

Ray J has experienced multiple medical emergencies this year, including a January hospitalization for pneumonia and heart pain. In May, he was hospitalized again after his heart rate reportedly slowed abruptly following a fight with internet personality Supa Hot Fire. Thursday’s incident marks another health-related setback for the entertainer, who has continued livestreaming as part of his extended streaming challenge.

British pop star Olivia Dean is facing a copyright lawsuit alleging that her song “I’ve Seen It” copies elements of Bill Withers’ 1981 soul classic “Just The Two of Us.” Mattie Music Group, which manages Withers’ catalog, filed the complaint in federal court in Los Angeles, claiming the songs share musical features that are too striking to be coincidental. Dean’s label Capitol Records, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Publishing and Kobalt are among the companies named as defendants. According to the lawsuit, Mattie Music Group hired a musicologist to examine both songs, with the expert allegedly finding substantial similarities and repeated copying of a distinctive melody. The publisher says it notified the companies about the alleged infringement in August, but “I’ve Seen It” remained available commercially. Dean and her co-writers, Bastian Langebæk and Max Wolfgang, are not personally named as defendants. Representatives for Dean and the companies had not publicly responded as of October 2. “I’ve Seen It” serves as the closing track on Dean’s 2025 album The Art of Loving, which earned her major recognition, including a Brit Award. The intimate acoustic ballad explores the different forms of love in her life. “Just The Two of Us,” recorded by Grover Washington Jr. featuring Withers, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy for Best R&B Song. Withers, who died in 2020, co-wrote the song with Ralph MacDonald and William Salter.

The Game is taking legal action against Universal Music Group and its subsidiary, Virgin Music Group, alleging the companies failed to properly promote his 2022 album Drillmatic – Heart vs. Mind. According to court documents, the Compton rapper filed the lawsuit on September 30, claiming the label did not fulfill a promised marketing commitment tied to the album’s release. At the center of the dispute is an alleged $500,000 marketing budget that The Game says was promised to support Drillmatic. He claims only $179,274.79 was spent, arguing that the reduced promotional efforts contributed to the album’s sales performance. The rapper alleges that $125,000 was specifically designated for radio promotion but that no money was spent in that area. The Game also claims another $170,000 was allocated for music videos, out-of-home advertising, international promotion and digital marketing, but alleges only $88,000 was ultimately spent. He is seeking approximately $500,000 in damages, citing breach of contract, as well as reimbursement for legal fees. UMG and Virgin Music Group have denied breaching their agreement with the rapper, according to the lawsuit.

Rapper Rick Ross was arrested Thursday morning in Miami Beach in connection with a domestic violence case, according to online jail records. Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 6:10 a.m. on a battery by strangulation charge. The arrest follows public allegations from his former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, who recently accused the rapper of physically abusing her. According to a Miami Beach Police Department arrest report, Kendrick, identified by the initials J.K., reported an alleged Aug. 28 incident to police Tuesday. Authorities said she and Ross had been dating for about a year and living together when she was awakened by Ross, who allegedly became angry after she was tagged in an Instagram photo. The report alleges Ross slapped and repeatedly struck her, choked her using the collar of her hoodie, slammed her against a wall and caused a busted lip before she escaped the home. Ross surrendered to police Thursday and did not provide a statement about the allegations, according to authorities. During a bond hearing, his attorney, Bradley Horenstein, asked for an expedited release, citing Ross’s celebrity status, but Judge Mindy Glazer said he would be treated like everyone else. She granted Ross a $5,000 bond and ordered him to stay away from the alleged victim. After his release, Ross told reporters he was “totally innocent” and called the allegations fabricated, while saying he planned to travel to Dubai and Paris over the weekend.
