Funk Flex Addresses Madison Square Garden Altercation With Shadow Stokes and TT Torrez

Funkmaster Flex is speaking out following a heated altercation involving entertainment executive Shadow Stokes and former Hot 97 employee TT Torrez during the New York Knicks’ regular-season opener at Madison Square Garden on October 20. On Wednesday, October 21, the longtime Hot 97 DJ took to Instagram to deny reports that he had been physically assaulted during the incident, sharing footage of the confrontation and mocking claims that he had been attacked. Flex also suggested that Stokes was attempting to provoke him into throwing a punch to create grounds for a lawsuit, accusing the executive of seeking financial compensation.

In subsequent posts, Flex alleged that Stokes threw a drink at him and encouraged him to throw a punch, describing the executive as an “ambulance chaser” attempting to bait him into a legal dispute. Flex also hinted that he would provide a more detailed account of the incident during his Hot 97 radio show on Thursday, October 22. Meanwhile, Torrez, who worked alongside Flex at the station for several years before leaving in 2025, offered a different account through a representative, alleging that Flex physically assaulted her during the confrontation with her husband.

According to Torrez’s representative, what was supposed to be an enjoyable evening at the Knicks game turned into a “deeply disturbing and traumatic experience.” The representative alleged that a verbal exchange between Stokes and Flex escalated into a physical confrontation in which Flex violently shoved Torrez, adding that the video circulating online does not tell the full story and that Stokes was defending his wife. Torrez has also accused Flex of subjecting her to ongoing harassment, intimidation and bullying. The allegations have not been independently established, and the competing accounts underscore the dispute surrounding the incident.

Grammy Award-winning singer Chris Brown has received a suspended eight-month sentence in the United Kingdom, avoiding jail time in connection with a 2023 assault at a London nightclub. In July, Brown pleaded guilty to one count of affray at Southwark Crown Court for striking music producer Abraham Diaw over the head with a tequila bottle. Before sentencing, Judge Tony Baumgartner acknowledged Brown’s successful music career but emphasized that his fame and commercial standing did not entitle him to special treatment under the law. The incident occurred in February 2023 at Tape London nightclub, where prosecutors said Brown struck Diaw twice with a tequila bottle while his co-defendant, Florida rapper Omololu Akinlolu, also known as HoodyBaby, punched the victim. According to the Crown Prosecution Service, the assault continued as Diaw attempted to escape through the club, and he was kicked while defenseless on the floor. Diaw subsequently received hospital treatment for injuries to his head and knees. Akinlolu, described by prosecutors as Brown’s vocal coach, pleaded guilty and received a four-month suspended sentence. Arrest warrants were issued after the men left the United Kingdom, and Brown was arrested in May 2025 upon returning to the country for a world tour performance in Manchester. Senior prosecutor Claire Campbell described the incident as a “vicious and unprovoked attack” in a crowded nightclub. Both men had initially denied charges involving assault and grievous bodily harm, while Brown also faced an offensive weapon charge. Those additional charges were subsequently dropped following the guilty pleas.

Radio personality Tarsha “Miss Jones” Jones is revisiting her departure from New York hip-hop station Hot 97, alleging that Ebro Darden strategically positioned himself to take over her morning show. During an appearance on the Quiet Part Out Loud podcast, Miss Jones recalled how Ebro was initially hired as assistant program director before being promoted to program director. According to Jones, Ebro also wanted to become an on-air personality and had his sights set on her coveted morning time slot. She also suggested that his focus on getting on the air distracted him from programming responsibilities as rival station Power 105 gained ground. Miss Jones became emotional while describing how she lost her position in 2005 after being suspended over an on-air incident and having her contract go unrenewed. Ebro subsequently became a co-host of Hot 97’s morning show, which was renamed Ebro in the Morning. Jones made history as the first Black woman to host morning radio in a hip-hop format and has remained a notable voice in New York radio. She currently hosts the morning show on classic hip-hop station 94.7 The Block. The story took another turn when Ebro in the Morning was abruptly canceled on December 12, 2025. Ebro took to social media to express his frustration over his departure, attributing it to his outspoken political views and the station’s need to satisfy advertisers. He now co-hosts a podcast with Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez. Beyond radio, Miss Jones also has a music background, appearing on AZ’s “Sugar Hill” and Big L’s “M.V.P.,” both released in 1995, as well as Big Pun’s “Punish Me” in 1998.
