Grammy-nominated R&B singer Nivea has revealed that she was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia earlier this year. Speaking with ABC News, the "Don't Mess With My Man" singer said she received the diagnosis in early 2026 following two bone marrow biopsy procedures. Despite the life-changing news, Nivea remains optimistic, sharing that her treatment has been successful so far. "Life for me has changed in various ways but treatment thus far is working," she said in a statement. "Taking it day by day with a positive mindset and a heart full of gratitude. I'm blessed with the ability to still do what I love—music, continue to mother my children, and learn new skills that fuel me."

Nivea also reflected on her journey during a recent appearance on Cadillac Chronicles, where she explained that the diagnosis has given her a renewed perspective on life. She said her treatments have been going well and expressed confidence that her recovery will continue. The singer emphasized that she now lives with gratitude every day, saying the experience has reminded her not to take time for granted. She also thanked fans for their continued love, prayers, and support throughout her health battle.

Although leukemia is a form of blood cancer that begins in the bone marrow and affects the body's ability to produce healthy blood cells, Nivea refuses to let the diagnosis define her. The mother of four said she has returned to making music while pursuing studies in audio engineering, a longtime goal of hers. Alongside spending time with her children, she remains focused on embracing every opportunity that comes her way. Nivea last released a full-length album, Mirrors, in 2019, and her positive outlook suggests she is determined to continue both her personal and creative journey.
